Janielle

Janielle is a New York-based indie singer-songwriter. Inspired by all corners of the music scene, she connects with listeners through blending the sounds of her indie-folk, pop, alt-rock, and Americana predecessors with her honest lyrical storytelling and humble acoustic guitar.

Born into a karaoke-loving family, Janielle knew that music was her birthright--she learned how to play piano and guitar and began singing in her church worship band all before the age of 10. While she had been writing songs since high school, she was able to refine her lyricism and cross-genre sound once she got to Princeton, where a songwriting course with renowned teaching guests like Maggie Rogers changed the trajectory of her music career. Since then, she has used songwriting as a means of navigating her emotional world, exploring themes of girlhood, intimacy, and heartbreak through impassioned melodies and evocative lyricism.
