Kevin J. James

Kevin J. James is an Americana storyteller and multi-instrumentalist currently based in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He uses clever lyricism to tackle profound topics in a manner reminiscent of John Prine or early Dylan and is quickly making a name for himself as a rising voice in the Folk/Americana genre.

James grew up in a small riverside town with a strong folk music community. Starting with the piano as a child, he taught himself how to play instrument after instrument: guitar, banjo, and mandolin to name a few. As a teenager he took up songwriting and quickly showed an adeptness for poignant storytelling. During his college years, his studies in music granted him the opportunity to workshop his songs with titans of the industry, including Sir Paul McCartney and New York Times’s chief pop music critic Jon Pareles. James’s fans are eagerly awaiting more releases from his stockpile of songs, following his debut single, First Step.
